Basketball Game Preview: Wink Wildcats vs. Fort Hancock Mustangs

Wink is 8-2 against Fort Hancock since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wink Wildcats will host the Fort Hancock Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Wink's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Fort Hancock has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Wink is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 75-31 win over McCamey. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Wink's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adelynn Thompson, who went 12 of 23 on her way to 28 points and six rebounds. Thompson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aizlyn Dewberry, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists.

Wink was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Fort Hancock had to suffer through a 58-19 loss at the hands of Iraan.

Wink has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Fort Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.

Wink was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Hancock in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 43-31. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Fort Hancock's Alessandra Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Wink to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
