Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Seattle Prep recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lynx will host the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Lincoln is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Eastside Catholic.
Ruby Hughes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, Brienna Minton and Nash Cochran stepped up to the plate in a big way. Minton went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Cochran went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was Cochran's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Blokker, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Seattle Prep hadn't done well against Ballard recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Beavers, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since May 16, 2024.
Gracie White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Downer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Fiona Dunn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Seattle Prep and bumps their season record up to 5-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
