Softball Recap: Tussey Mountain Triumphs

Tussey Mountain proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 14) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Southern Fulton Indians 10-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Titans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Joslyn Raley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brianna Gabrielson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she hit this season. Olivia Mills was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Tussey Mountain picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Southern Fulton, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tussey Mountain will head out to face off against Mount Union at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southern Fulton, they will venture away from home to challenge Berkeley Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
