Baseball Game Preview: Southeast Pirates vs. LaBrae Vikings

The Southeast Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the LaBrae Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Wednesday, Southeast made easy work of East and carried off a 10-2 win.

Meanwhile, LaBrae owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They blew past Heartland Christian 7-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Austin Rowe was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Nathan Goldner was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Brunstetter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

LaBrae was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heartland Christian only posted a batting average of .167.

Southeast has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for LaBrae, their record now sits at 9-3.

Southeast came up short against LaBrae in their previous matchup on Monday, falling 7-3. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
