Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mt. Vernon can now relate to. They took a hard 43-27 fall against the Triad Knights on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 65 points in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Mt. Vernon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lucas Shelby posted seven points.

Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Triad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 21 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season.

Mt. Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Triad, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-26 victory against Centralia on the 7th.
