Baseball Game Preview: Poly Parrots vs. Kennedy Cougars

The Poly Parrots will venture away from home to face off against the Kennedy Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Poly's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Kennedy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Poly gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out San Fernando 5-3. The Parrots haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Verdugo Hills.

Kennedy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rocky Marin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jose Gutierrez was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Poly pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything went Poly's way against Kennedy when the teams last played back in March, as Poly made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Parrots repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
