Basketball Recap: Micheal Battle Key Part of a Team Effort in Hornets Win

Pelham won against Mitchell County last Saturday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Pelham Hornets managed a 61-56 win over the Seminole County Indians. With that victory, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

Pelham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Micheal Battle led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Battle a new career-high in boards. Dorian Williams was another key player, going 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points.

Pelham was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Seminole County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach King, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakari Henderson, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Pelham's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Seminole County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.

Pelham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-38 loss against Randolph-Clay on the 29th. As for Seminole County, they will square off against Mitchell County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Seminole County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
