Softball Recap: Griffith Beats Wheeler for Their Third Straight Win

Griffith put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Wheeler Bearcats. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Bearcats on their field since May 1, 2018.

Cheyanne Fant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Natalie Vianello and Brylie Bridges did most of the damage at the plate: Vianello went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Bridges went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Vianello a new career-high. Laney Poppa was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Griffith's record now sits at 3-0. As for Wheeler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Griffith will challenge Tri-West Hendricks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheeler, they will face off against Hammond Bishop Noll at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
