Baseball Recap: Torrance's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Torrance had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the South Spartans on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-2 win. That looming 10-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tartars yet this season.

Sam Cruz tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noriyoshi Mori, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Torrance's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Rickman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Torrance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South only managed four hits.

Torrance's record now sits at 10-8. As for South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Torrance will be playing at home against Warren at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South, they will head out to face off against Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
