Basketball Recap: Evansville Mater Dei Comes Up Short

Evansville Mater Dei was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They fell 54-43 to the Forest Park Rangers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Rangers are ranked 80th).

Despite the defeat, Evansville Mater Dei saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cole Breeden dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Tate Mallory was another key player, putting up 11 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Evansville Mater Dei was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. This was only their tenth loss (out of 12 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Evansville Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Forest Park, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Evansville Mater Dei wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-43 win against Pike Central on the 8th. As for Forest Park, they will head out to challenge Perry Central at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
