Basketball Recap: Wake Forest Piles Up the Points Against Wake Christian Academy

While Wake Forest didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 93-56 win over the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 273rd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wake Forest was led to victory by Scott Jones and Palmer Chase. Jones went 10 of 14 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, while Chase went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Chase has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Jayden Fields was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paxton Coon, who posted 23 points. Another player making a difference was Mason France, who had 13 points and five rebounds.

Wake Forest's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Wake Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Wake Forest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-48 win against Vance County on the 5th. As for Wake Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-55 victory against Liberty Christian on the 3rd.
