Basketball Recap: Josey Beats Butler for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Josey had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came out on top against the Butler Bulldogs by a score of 66-58. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 54-46 win two weeks ago.

Josey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kerri Fluellen, who posted 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Fluellen has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 52 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniya Sanders, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards.

Josey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Butler only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, Butler still got an impressive performance from Paris Floyd, who went 9-for-15 to rack up 24 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Floyd a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Rania Curry, who went 6-for-14 en route to 14 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Josey's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6.

Josey has already played their next match, a 59-41 win against Thomson on the 14th. Butler does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
