Baseball Game Preview: Lakeridge Pacers vs. South Salem Saxons

The Lakeridge Pacers will square off against the South Salem Saxons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lakeridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against La Salle on Monday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 7-1.

Meanwhile, South Salem strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against West Linn. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Saxons have posted since April 26, 2024.

Harrison Buckingham tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gavin Price and Teagan Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Price went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Scott scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Scott is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Noah Scharer, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

South Salem's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Lakeridge, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-5.
