Baseball Recap: Marceline Triumphs

The Marceline Tigers were able to grind out a solid victory over the Sacred Heart Gremlins on Saturday, taking the game 4-1.

Trace Huber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Marceline is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Marceline's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cody Rodgers, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Marceline's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Sacred Heart, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Marceline has already played their next matchup, a 9-8 win against Wheatland on the 12th. As for Sacred Heart, they will challenge Otterville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
