Soccer Game Preview: Woodbridge vs. Forest Park

The Woodbridge Vikings will square off against the Forest Park Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Forest Park will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Woodbridge extended their winning streak to six on Friday. The Vikings' defense stepped up to hand Osbourn an 8-0 shutout. Woodbridge's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six games.

Meanwhile, Forest Park waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 10-0 win. Given Forest Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Potomac Senior are ranked 304th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Forest Park's offense was hitting Potomac Senior from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal. Charlotte Bobeck led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Woodbridge pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Forest Park, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5-1.

Woodbridge was able to grind out a solid win over Forest Park in their previous matchup back in April, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
