Basketball Recap: Monona Grove Skates Past Columbus with Ease

Monona Grove won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Saturday too. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 72-43 stomp they got against the Columbus Cardinals. The Silver Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Monona Grove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Monona Grove will be playing at home against Monroe at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Monona Grove likes a good challenge. As for Columbus, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Marshall at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
