Basketball Recap: Brighton Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Brighton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Dyer County Choctaws 80-32 on Monday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Choctaws recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brighton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khaylin Vispo, who posted six points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Paityn Meacham, who put up 13 points.

Coming up, Brighton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ripley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dyer County, they will venture away from home to face off against St. Benedict at Auburndale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
