Recap: Howard Huskies vs. Westside Seminoles
The Howard Huskies 's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westside. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Howard in their matchups with Westside: they've now lost eight in a row.
Joshua Harden was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with nine rebounds and four steals for Westside. The match was Harden's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Hood, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Howard has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Westside, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howard will take on Mary Persons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mary Persons has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. Westside won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Rutland is ranked 222nd, while Westside is ranked 230th).
