Softball Game Preview: Edon Bombers vs. Montpelier Locomotives

Edon is 0-8 against Montpelier since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Bombers will be playing at home against the Locomotives at 5:00 p.m. Edon has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Edon came up short against Hilltop on Tuesday, falling 14-1. The Bombers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Montpelier posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hilltop 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Locomotives.

Madelyn Hopper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jada Uribes was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Lyla Mahan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Edon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Montpelier, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
