Basketball Recap: Coral Springs Comes Up Short

Coral Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders and fell 85-58. If the Colts were looking for revenge after losing 70-58 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

St. Thomas Aquinas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drake (DJ) Sandi, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. That's the most points Sandi has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwayne Wimbley Jr., who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Coral Springs' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Coral Springs and St. Thomas Aquinas should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Coral Springs (ranked 65th) will meet South Broward (ranked 535th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, St. Thomas Aquinas (ranked third) will meet Blanche Ely (ranked 43rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
