Diboll is 7-2 against Newton since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Diboll Lumberjacks will face off against the Newton Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Diboll has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, Diboll needed a bit of extra time to put away Woodville. They escaped with a win against the Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 63-62. The win was some much needed relief for the Lumberjacks as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Central Heights 73-13. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1597th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 713th).

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Diboll, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.

Diboll strolled past Newton in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 57-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Diboll since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
