Recap: Mountain House Mustangs vs. Campolindo Cougars
On Saturday, Mountain House came up short against Campolindo and fell 59-51. Mountain House has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mountain House lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gabriel Williams, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jordan Assefa was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Mountain House struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Leading Campolindo to victory were Gavin Rendle and Dylan Mansour. Rendle scored 16 points along with six rebounds, while Mansour scored 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Rendle has scored at least 25% of Campolindo's points. Another player making a difference was Tim Smith, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Mountain House's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Campolindo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain House's road trip will continue as they head out to face Davis at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Davis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 848th, while Mountain House is ranked 163rd). Campolindo and St. Mary's will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Mary's will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
