Basketball Game Preview: Little Village Phoenix vs. Legal Prep

The Little Village Phoenix will head out on the road to take on Legal Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Little Village is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.3 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Little Village strolled past Bogan with points to spare, taking the game 63-48. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Bengals are ranked 563rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Dion Boyd Jr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (eight). Tyshawn Miller was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Little Village smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Legal Prep took a blow against Collins last Wednesday, falling 82-23. Legal Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Legal Prep now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Little Village, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

Little Village was able to grind out a solid win over Legal Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 90-77. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Legal Prep's Jamal Craig, who posted 22 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Little Village to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
