Basketball Game Preview: True North Classical Academy Titans vs. Marathon Dolphins

The True North Classical Academy Titans will face off against the Marathon Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. True North Classical Academy's defense has only allowed 28.1 points per game this season, so Marathon's offense will have their work cut out for them.

True North Classical Academy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Westminster Christian just ended the team's six-game winning streak back in December of 2024. They were dealt a 61-34 defeat at the hands of the Warriors. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this contest were averaging 28.14 points allowed.

Despite the loss, True North Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Angie Fiad went 8 of 12 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fiad has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Montero, who posted two points along with 13 boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, True North Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Marathon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Immaculata-La Salle on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Dolphins' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Royal Lions are ranked 165th).

Having lost for the first time this season, True North Classical Academy fell to 6-1. As for Marathon, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
