Aaliyah Crump named 2023-24 Minnesota MaxPreps High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Junior guard led Minnetonka to Class AAAA state championship.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Aaliyah Crump of Minnetonka is the 2023-24 Minnesota MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 junior guard led the Skippers to a 29-2 record and Class AAAA state championship.

For the season, Crump averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She shot 56.3 percent from the field with a high of 38 points in a January game against DeLaSalle (Minneapolis).

In a 64-56 win over Hopkins (Minnetonka) in the state title game, Crump went for 23 points. She averaged 27 per game in three state tournament outings.

Regarded as a top 10 prospect the Class of 2025, Crump already has a NIL deal with New Balance and more than 50 Division I scholarship offers.



Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
