Baseball Game Preview: Alpena Wildcats vs. Ogemaw Heights Falcons

The Alpena Wildcats will take on the Ogemaw Heights Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Alpena is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Freeland on Saturday. They lost 9-1 to the Falcons. The Wildcats have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, while Ogemaw Heights put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Bullock Creek. The Falcons blew past the Lancers 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Wyatt Biskup's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Robbie Hock, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Edgar Potter, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Ogemaw Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Alpena, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Alpena took their win against Ogemaw Heights in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
