Troy and Athens are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Colts will head out to face off against the Red Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Troy's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Troy took a blow against Seaholm, falling 42-7.

Meanwhile, Athens didn't have quite enough to beat Oxford on Friday and fell 31-28. While losing is never fun, the Red Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Wildcats are ranked 36th).

Troy will need to focus on slowing down Cainan Hanbury, one of several Athens players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 61 yards and three TDs. Athens also got help from Nathan Piggott, who showed off his sure hands for 132 receiving yards.

Troy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Troy was able to grind out a solid win over Athens in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
