Softball Game Preview: Oakton Cougars vs. Mount Vernon Majors

The Oakton Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Mount Vernon Majors at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

South Lakes hit Oakton with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell 8-5 to the Seahawks. It was the first time this season that the Cougars let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon came up short against Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology on Monday, falling 15-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Majors in their meetings with the Colonials: they've now lost six in a row.

Mount Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isa Erpestad, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mount Vernon now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Oakton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
