Baseball Recap: North Takes a Loss

North extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 1-13. They lost 12-1 to the Blackstone-Millville Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in April.

As for Blackstone-Millville, they moved to 7-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Blackstone-Millville's part, Zack Bell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Bell has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Fletcher, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Lao Pe?a-Montero was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Coincidentally, North and Blackstone-Millville will both be playing Prouty the next time they take the field. The Polar Bears will host the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Chargers will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
