Preview: Olive Branch Conquistadors vs. Southaven Chargers
Olive Branch is 10-0 against Southaven since November of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Olive Branch Conquistadors will head out on the road to face off against the Southaven Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Olive Branch has four straight victories, Southaven has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Olive Branch has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Lake Cormorant 71-35 at home.
Meanwhile, Southaven was beaten by Lewisburg 66-29 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Southaven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Lewisburg is ranked 24th).
Olive Branch has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Southaven, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8.
Everything came up roses for Olive Branch against Southaven in their previous matchup back in November as the squad secured a 71-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Olive Branch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
