Baseball Recap: Rehoboth Christian's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Rehoboth Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tucumcari Rattlers an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Lynx might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Jonathan Zylstra, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Tucumcari off the board. Zylstra also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rehoboth Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Trajen West was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Rehoboth Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 8-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kodah Chapman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory was the third in a row for Rehoboth Christian, bringing their record up to 12-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tucumcari, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Rehoboth Christian will take on Hozho Academy at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. The Wolves will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something the Lynx surely won't give up without a fight. Tucumcari does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
