Softball Recap: Hollister Gets the Win

Hollister won the last time they faced Palma and things went their way on Monday too. The Haybalers walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Chieftains.

Eliana Hatchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Hollister got a massive performance out of Grace Peffley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four hits gave Peffley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was De'Zeyer Fa'Agai, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hollister kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palma only managed seven hits.

Hollister's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Palma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollister will welcome Salinas at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Haybalers 3.6, the Cowboys 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Palma, they will be playing at home against Monterey at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dores will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight.
