Basketball Recap: Heritage Academy Gateway Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

On Friday, the Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes beat the Premier Prep- PHHoenix Fire Frogs 60-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Heroes.

Heritage Academy Gateway had a senior duo take command as Talon Lemieux dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds and Brock Akin almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Lemieux. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Spencer, who posted eight points and four steals.

Heritage Academy Gateway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Heritage Academy Gateway is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Premier Prep- PHHoenix, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8.

Heritage Academy Gateway will be playing at home against AZ Compass Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Premier Prep- PHHoenix, they will welcome Skyline Prep Open at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Premier Prep- PHHoenix is facing Skyline Prep Open at the right time seeing as Skyline Prep Open is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
