Baseball Recap: Arlington Gets the Win

Arlington took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Westport, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spy Ponders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Spy Ponders: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in April, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Arlington's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Sadowski, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Sadowski is becoming a predictor of the Spy Ponders' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Tim Badua also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Westport, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arlington will take on Billerica Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Spy Ponders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westport, they will welcome Avon at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
