Basketball Recap: Chloe Law's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Litchfield over Gillespie

Litchfield lost against Gillespie back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Litchfield Purple Panthers lost to the Gillespie Miners at home by a 55-41 margin. While losing is never fun, the Purple Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Miners are ranked 119th).

Litchfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Chloe Law, who posted 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Jenkins, who put up six points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Litchfield and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Gillespie, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Litchfield will challenge Lincolnwood at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Litchfield is facing Lincolnwood at the right time seeing as Lincolnwood is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Gillespie, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Southwestern at 6:00 p.m.
