Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Ramblers vs. School Without Walls Penguins

Eastern is 0-8 against School Without Walls since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Ramblers are taking a road trip to face off against the Penguins at 4:00 p.m. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Eastern is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: DC International, who was ranked sixth at the time (Eastern was ranked fourth). The Ramblers fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 6-4 on Saturday.

Aaron Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rasheed Hardy, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, School Without Walls suffered their closest loss since March 7th on Saturday. They fell just short of Sidwell Friends by a score of 7-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Penguins in their meetings with the Quakers: they've now lost three in a row.

Ellington Hunt and Sean Aldridge stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hunt scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Aldridge went 2-for-4 with one home run. Those hits marked the first that Aldridge got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo Weller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

School Without Walls' loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eastern has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like School Without Walls struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Eastern might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from School Without Walls in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Ramblers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
