Softball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Liberty can now relate to. They fell just short of the Lone Star Rangers by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redhawks of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Addison Hanson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Delila Bond made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Liberty and nudges their season record down to 14-8. As for Lone Star, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9-1 record this season.

While Liberty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
