Basketball Recap: Beacon Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Beacon Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They strolled past the Morgan Park Academy Warriors with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 47-32. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-40 back in December of 2024.

Morgan Park Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ade Denton-Vance, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Varun Paluri, who earned five points and nine boards.

Beacon Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Morgan Park Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beacon Academy will challenge Lycee Francais de Chicago at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Morgan Park Academy, they will take on Kelly at 5:00 p.m. on February 18th.
