Football Recap: Bryson Royal Key Part of Team Effort in Cougars Win

Colts Neck won the last time they faced Freehold Boro and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 28-7 margin over the Colonials.

Colts Neck's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Royal, who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Royal has posted since back in November of 2024. Zack Caporale helped out on the ground, rushing for 86 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Colts Neck was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 69.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 213.

Colts Neck's record is now 2-4. As for Freehold Boro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colts Neck will host Shore Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Freehold Boro, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Freehold Township at 12:00 p.m.
