Basketball Game Preview: Advanced Tech Academy Lakers vs. River Rouge Panthers

Advanced Tech Academy is 1-7 against River Rouge since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lakers are taking a road trip to face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Advanced Tech Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Advanced Tech Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Star International Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lakers blew the Falcons out of the water with a 61-11 final score. The Lakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 28 points or more this season.

Advanced Tech Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ziamya Barrera, who posted 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, and Amiyah Warren, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten steals. The Lakers are undefeated when Barrera posts three or more steals, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kamaria Montgomery, who put up nine points along with five boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, River Rouge played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Belleville 84-14. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 59-9.

Advanced Tech Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for River Rouge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Advanced Tech Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over River Rouge in their previous meeting back in January, winning 51-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
