Football Recap: Larimore Drops Highest Score of Season Against St. John + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Larimore). They had just enough and edged out the St. John Woodchucks 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Polar Bears have posted since August 30, 2024.

Baron Burns had a dynamite game, rushing for 108 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Those 108 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Odermann, who rushed for 105 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Larimore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 78 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 307.7.

When it comes to explaining why St. John lost on Friday, don't look at Lane Zupan. Despite the final result, he rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Zupan's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Larimore's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for St. John, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
