Baseball Recap: Dontrell Aguilar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santa Fe Indian over Robertson

Santa Fe Indian extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Robertson Cardinals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-4 defeat on Tuesday.

Santa Fe Indian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dontrell Aguilar, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

As for Robertson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-6. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Santa Fe Indian, they, and West Las Vegas.

On Robertson's side, Diego Maez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. Maez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brenen Deisler was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Brian Lucero was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe Indian is taking a road trip to square off against West Las Vegas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Robertson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
