Recap: Dayton Greendevils vs. Newport Wildcats
On Friday, Dayton was beaten by Newport 38-7. It was the first time this season that Dayton let down their fans at home.
Rod Thompson had an outrageously good game for Newport as he rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Lee, who rushed for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
Dayton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Newport, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Dayton will be playing at home against Trimble County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trimble County is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Newport, they will head out on the road to face off against Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
