Soccer Recap: Sweeny Comes Up Short

Sweeny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles. Sweeny were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fort Bend Willowridge apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Sweeny's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sweeny will square off against Columbia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, they will take on La Marque at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fort Bend Willowridge will be up against La Marque's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.55 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
