Baseball Recap: Benton Find Success

After losing to Millville the last time they met, Benton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers came out on top against the Quakers by a score of 8-3 on Friday.

Ben Farwell made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Wayne Osborne was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Dalton Koch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Benton's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Millville, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benton will face off against Bucktail at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bucks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.75 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Millville, they will square off against Muncy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
