Baseball Recap: Ferndale Starts Season with Victory Against Harmony Area

Ferndale had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Harmony Area Owls on Friday. This was payback for the Yellow Jackets, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Josh Mitchell made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mitchell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Joe Prave was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Michael Zahurak was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Ferndale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-1 defeat against Rockwood on the 18th. As for Harmony Area, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-2 loss against Curwensville on the 19th.
