Softball Recap: New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Comes Up Short

New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They came up short against the Hayfield Vikings, falling 18-3. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 17-5 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Hayfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3. The match marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

For Hayfield's part, Kenna Rutledge was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kenna Selk, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva will face off against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hayfield, they will square off against Wabasha-Kellogg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
