Softball Recap: Muncy Wins Going Away Against Millville

Muncy won the last time they faced Millville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Indians blew past the Quakers 20-4. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Chevelle Bauman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Shannon, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Rachel Paulhamus was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Muncy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Muncy and bumps their season record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Millville, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Looking ahead, Muncy will head out on the road to face off against Lewisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians are facing the Green Dragons at the right time seeing as the Green Dragons are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Millville, they will host Bucktail at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
