Softball Game Preview: Evangelical Christian Eagles vs. Briarcrest Christian Saints

The Evangelical Christian Eagles will square off against the Briarcrest Christian Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Evangelical Christian was handed a 13-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. George's, sneaking past 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Natalie Regel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Julianna Lewis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Briarcrest Christian can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Bartlett 4-2.

Ellen Adair spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Briarcrest Christian's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Regina McIntosh, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave McIntosh a new career-high. Hadleigh Kimbrough also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Briarcrest Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only posted a batting average of .130.

Briarcrest Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Evangelical Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

Evangelical Christian skirted past Briarcrest Christian 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
