Softball Game Preview: Wiregrass Ranch Bulls vs. Mitchell Mustangs

Wiregrass Ranch is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Mitchell is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulls will host the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wiregrass Ranch 3.9, Mitchell 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Tuesday, Wiregrass Ranch beat Pasco 7-4.

Reagan Beagle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other pitching news, Kylie Glatfelter looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Zechmann, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Chloe Troupe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mitchell won against Dunedin on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Mustangs blew past Clearwater 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mitchell's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Wiregrass Ranch skirted past Mitchell 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Bulls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
